To ensure that Heidelberg Materials UK products are delivered to customers in a timely, efficient, and courteous manner, the company upholds professional standards at all times. All aspects of Health and Safety, Working Time Directive, Road Transport Law, and Company procedures are integrated into daily routines. The regional logistics function manages distribution operations to meet customer requirements, aiming to improve overall performance and ensure statutory compliance.

Key accountabilities

  • Ensure the vehicle and all entrusted equipment are properly maintained, clean, and records are accurately kept as per legislation and company policies.
  • Comply with company personnel and administrative policies.
  • Follow all Health and Safety, Working Time Directive, and Road Transport regulations.
  • Handle waste disposal, water discharges, and dust emissions according to Environmental procedures.
  • Perform deliveries efficiently, cost-effectively, and courteously.
  • Ensure timely and consistent attendance at the operating unit.
  • Perform additional duties as directed by Management.
  • Operate specialized vehicles (walking floor, rolling floor, tipper, concrete mixer) as required.
  • Be flexible regarding work location and willing to work away/overnight based on customer demand, including supporting high volumes in other areas.
  • Be willing to undergo further training, including CRB/Scottish Disclosure checks.
  • Maintain high safety standards and strictly follow site rules.

Education/Qualifications

  • GCSE grade 4+ or equivalent to a C in Math and English.
  • Full knowledge of Road Transport Law, Working Time Directive, and relevant Health, Safety, and Environmental legislation.
  • Current DCPC card is essential.
  • Valid EPIC/MPQC card.
  • Ability to identify and report issues.
  • Well-motivated, physically fit, and capable of working independently.
  • Flexible regarding working hours, including periods of working away from base (nights out).
