Job Summary

8 hours per week to be worked on Sundays during term time. Fixed term contract for 1 year. 3 terms of 12 weeks in the year. Plus 4 training days.

Job Description

We are looking for a friendly and responsible person to join our Community Engagement team. The Community & Youth Theatre Duty Manager will take responsibility for the building on Sundays during term time to open and close the building and then be present in the Youth Theatre sessions to support the Youth Theatre Leader and Assistant Youth Theatre Leader with the welfare, safety, and care of the young participants.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

4.1 Undertake an enhanced DBS check (provided by the Theatre)

4.2 Undertake First Aid and Youth Mental Health First Aid training courses

This role is specifically to manage to the theatre building and support facilitators for community events, but there may be opportunity to join the casual pool of show duty managers - although this is not a requirement of the role.

PERSON SPECIFICATION & EXPERIENCE

Experience of working with young people

Working knowledge/experience of Health and Safety and Safeguarding

Positive approach to customer service and welcoming people to the building

Comfortable working with a range of community groups and people

Competent IT skills and level of written English

Positive and flexible attitude, excellent communication skills, empathy and patience

Able to work alone under own initiative

Commitment to accessibility, equity, diversity and inclusion

Job Responsibilities

BUILDING DUTY MANAGER

To act as building manager during specific opening for Community events, mainly the Young Garrick sessions every Sunday (daytime) during term time.

PARTICIPANT SUPPORT

Support the Youth Theatre Leader and Assistant with the wellbeing and safety of the participants (and any other facilitators as appropriate for other community engagement events)

Be present in the sessions at all times to act as a third adult in the room to offer any pastoral, emotional and welfare support to participants, and to escort participants who leave the sessions around the building if required. (Please note this role does not require any personal or physical care to be given to participants outside of basic first aid).

Following the theatre's Safeguarding Procedure to ensure the safety of participants to report any concerns with the theatre's DSOs.

Support the Community Producer and freelance facilitators with administration of sessions.
