About the role

The role of a Home and Community Support Worker is to be part of a team providing practical care and support to children with disabilities (and their families) in the community. You will support children and young people with disabilities to engage in play activities while providing a safe environment to promote their independence and social skills. The role involves supporting children with personal care needs such as eating, dressing, toileting, bathing, and administering medication, respecting their individual needs and rights.

Relevant training will be provided before support begins, including safeguarding, moving and handling (if applicable), lone working, and first aid.

About you
  • Experience of direct working with children with a disability in a health, education, social services, or voluntary sector setting.
  • Ability to work independently, use your initiative, and seek advice or supervision as needed.
  • You must be at least 18 years old to apply. If under 18, other roles are available at Moor Lane or Windham Croft Centre.
  • Skills to support children with their needs, including personal care, mobility, and independence, with patience and adaptability.
