Autism Support Worker - Wareham

Here at Autism Unlimited, we run a dedicated adult services programme. We are currently recruiting for one of our care packages in the West. We seek a mature individual who is spontaneous, fun, adaptable, and proactive to join our community team in Wareham.

Requirements:

Hold a full driving license and have access to your own vehicle.

The role:

Jack is in his early 30s, enjoys long country walks, days out to Paultons Park, and musical theatre shows. He also likes quiet days watching Disney films, listening to music, or reading.

Jack has an established routine and requires staff confident in providing a safe, supported environment. He is non-verbal and communicates via PECS boards, relying on staff support to enable him to have choice and control.

Support worker duties include:

  • Sharing skills and life knowledge to promote independence
  • Maintaining accurate records of care plans, finances, appointments, and medication
  • Following support plans and adapting as needed based on behaviour changes
  • Providing personal care, including hygiene, bathing, and medication support
  • Participating in a 12-week induction with training, shadowing, coaching, and mentoring
  • Opportunity to complete an accredited qualification after probation
  • Access to a learning portal for ongoing skill development
  • Welcome bonus of £400 (paid in two installments at 3 and 6 months)
