Job description

Vista is an independent, local charity providing information, support, and care to people affected by sight loss who live in Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland. We have been doing so for over 180 years and are working hard to ensure we continue to do so in the future.

You will be required to work 25 hours per week, Monday to Friday. There may be additional hours to meet the needs of the service, such as covering annual leave or sickness.

In this role, you will:

  1. Carry out support as required by the client, assisting people to access their community for appointments, shopping, or activities.
  2. Work with people within their own homes or assist them to travel to agreed destinations.
  3. Support the individual to access their own community, ensuring that the person’s choice is exercised fully.

Experience of working with visually impaired people, older people, or those with disabilities is preferred. You should also have proven verbal and written communication skills.

In return, we offer a competitive salary, staff benefits scheme, flexibility, and opportunities for professional and personal development in one of the largest local charities and a leading organisation in the sight loss sector.

We welcome applications from all candidates, regardless of any protected characteristic, and are an equal opportunity employer.

All candidates will be treated equally, and decisions on appointments will be based on the merits of the candidates.
