Job Description

To work with and provide care and support to individuals with a range of disabilities or frailties who may exhibit a variety of support needs posing a range of physical and emotional challenges, or require urgent care.

Responsibilities
  1. Promote independence and develop skills for individuals.
  2. Provide assistance and guidance/training to individuals in all household tasks.
  3. Assist individuals to manage all areas of finance; bank account, benefits, budgeting.
  4. Enable individuals to develop social skills and integrate as fully as possible into their community.
  5. Work in different locations and services within Moray Council.
  6. Uphold social work values to ensure good working practice including understanding and awareness of health and safety.
  7. Work positively with other agencies, parents, carers, and other services to ensure a quality provision of care for individuals.
  8. Develop and contribute to the maintenance of individual records and support plans and act as a key worker when required.
  9. Participate in regular and ongoing training and team meetings relevant to the needs of the individuals.
  10. Be aware and follow the Health and Safety guidelines at all times.
The Individual
  1. Experience which would give insight into working with adults with a learning disability.
  2. Ability to demonstrate a satisfactory level of literacy and numeracy.
  3. Mandatory SSSC registration for new and existing staff.
  4. Willingness to undertake SVQ qualification.
  5. Budgeting skills.
  6. Ability to undertake household skills to a required standard.
  7. Ability to record information accurately.
  8. Self-confident and self-motivated.
  9. Active listening and verbal communication skills for effective interaction with individuals, family, and all relevant staff team.
  10. Ability to resolve problems and cope with day-to-day pressures.
  11. Flexible and adaptable.
  12. Ability to work independently and/or as part of an effective team.
  13. Confident approach to challenging situations.
  14. Ability to encourage and enable individuals.
  15. A positive and supportive attitude to individuals.
  16. Effective organizational skills including time management.
  17. Full driving license; expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Moray to meet the operational requirements of the service, typically undertaken by car/van due to the rural nature of Moray.
  18. Calm, patient, and non-judgmental attitude.
  19. Appreciation, acceptance of, and a commitment to the importance of confidentiality.
  20. Willing to accept direction/delegation.
  21. Must be physically able to undertake a range of movements when carrying out personal care, domestic support, and activities with individuals.
  22. Must be able to handle equipment/people in accordance with moving and handling regulations.
  23. Flexibility to meet the needs and demands of the service.
Additional Information

Closing Date: 25 April 2025

Starting Salary: £25,692.55 pro rata (£13.63 per hour)
