Job Description:

JOB OVERVIEW

We have fantastic volunteering opportunities to join the organisation as either a Community Support Volunteer or Neurodiversity Profiler (full training provided)

The organisation plays a key role by supporting staff to deliver positive impact through projects that address the range of needs of the participants within the criminal justice system.

There are two positions available and full training is provided with each role:

Community Support Volunteer

As a Community Support Volunteer you will act as positive role model who inspires, empowers and guides participants to achieve actions agreed on the initial action plan.

Working as a Community Support Volunteer you will offer personalised, one-to-one support to help improve participants’ lives, equipping those you are supporting with the skills they need to succeed and to prevent individuals from becoming trapped in a cycle of criminality.

Neurodiversity Profiler

As a Neurodiversity Profiler you will use the organisation’s neurodiversity tool (training provided) to establish any neurodiversity traits, discuss barriers and also skills to overcome any challenges. The report is then shared with the participant’s professional such as police or probation. This is a new and rewarding role which aims to give professionals a better understanding of those they are working with and to improve communication and engagement.

Both these roles are very rewarding, with many positive outcomes for the participants you will be matched with. In return for your volunteering efforts, the organisation offer extensive training, paid expenses, and high level of support and supervision from a Volunteer Coordinator.

As a volunteer you can:

  • Gain experience working in the criminal justice sector
  • Benefit from a range of training opportunities
  • Be part of a team, supporting each other to support participants
  • Learn new skills working within an evidence-based approach
  • Play an active role in addressing crime in communities
  • Give people an opportunity to put their lives on track

There is an option to offer volunteer support to participants remotely.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

As either the Community Support Volunteer or Neurodiversity Profiler you will need the following attributes:

  • IT skills are required as there is an element of administration involved in this role.
  • As a successful candidate you must understand the need for reliability, value punctuality and have good communication skills
  • Must be able to commit to 3 hours per week as a minimum

The post is subject to enhanced DBS clearance and satisfactory references
