Would you really like to make a difference to the health and well being of the young people of Buckinghamshire?

The school aged immunisation service in Buckinghamshire have an exciting opportunity, they are looking for a part time, all year round band 5 staff nurse to join their award winning service.

The immunisation team is commissioned by NHS England to provide school based immunisations in every primary and secondary school in Buckinghamshire helping to protect 4-19 year olds against Flu, HPV, Diphtheria, Tetanus, Polio. Meningitis ACWY and Measles, Mumps and Rubella. We also deliver the Neonatal SCID BCG programme and there is the opportunity to work with the BCG team and learn this new skill if you don't have it. The team responds to disease outbreaks as directed by UKHSA.

The team is supportive, dynamic and forward thinking and uses an electronic consenting system which has revolutionised the service.

The post holder will ensure that all children, young people and families in Buckinghamshire are offered age appropriate immunisations in a safe and supportive environment together with evidenced based information on the benefits of immunisation. This is a community staff nursing post and therefore the successful applicant will have the variety of working from various bases across the county of Buckinghamshire.

Full training will be given.

Main duties of the job
  • Working with clients in a variety of community settings e.g. home, clinic, children’s centre, educational establishment etc.
  • To assist in the preparation, planning and delivery of the childhood Immunisation programme in accordance with the local policies and procedures after following appropriate training.
  • Liaise with GP surgeries and their staff with regard to promoting childhood immunisations.
  • To improve coverage of all childhood immunisations for children aged 0-19 years and in particular - improving timely immunisation uptake in historically low coverage areas.
