Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is seeking an experienced District Nurse to deliver patient-centred care in home settings and communities. You will work autonomously as part of a wider multidisciplinary team, applying strong clinical knowledge and compassionate care to meet diverse community needs.

The role offers a full-time permanent contract with a 36-hour week across four 9-hour shifts, based at Clydebank Health Centre.

Job description

The District Nursing Service delivers skilled nursing interventions across a broad range of clinical needs, providing compassionate, person-centred care that places individuals and those important to them at the heart of all decision‑making.

You will practise as an independent and autonomous practitioner, supported by a strong foundation of theoretical knowledge and clinical expertise.

The role offers the opportunity to work within a wider multidisciplinary team, delivering high-quality care to people in their own homes or homely settings. A commitment to ongoing professional development and a genuine passion for community nursing are essential.

You need to have a live NMC UK pin in order to be considered for this post.

All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern
  • This is a full-time permanent position
  • The working pattern is four 9-hour shifts over 7 days, providing a 36-hour working week
  • The post is based at Clydebank Health Centre / West Dunbartonshire HSCP. .
  • The role involves working across the community and delivering care to people in their own homes or homely settings.
Key Responsibilities

You will provide skilled nursing interventions across a broad range of clinical needs, working as an independent and autonomous practitioner to deliver compassionate, person-centred care.

You will use your theoretical knowledge and clinical expertise to assess and meet the needs of individuals within the community, working collaboratively as part of a wider multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care while contributing to decision‑making that places individuals and those important to them at the centre of care and you will maintain your professional knowledge and skills through ongoing development.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job
  • Registered Nurse with a valid first-level Adult Nursing qualification/degree.
  • Relevant clinical knowledge and experience in nursing.
  • Knowledge of community nursing and delivering care within patients' own homes or homely settings.
  • Ability to practise independently and autonomously.
  • Strong clinical and theoretical knowledge.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Ability to provide compassionate and person-centred care.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
