Project Resilience is One YMCA Award winning Health and Wellbeing Project which brings sports and exercise to the heart of housing accommodation sites. We take a client centric approach supporting our residents who have faced homelessness and rough sleeping to engage in physical activity to improve their mental and physical health.
Our aim is to engage as many and as diverse range of residents as we can breaking down barriers though our in house class time-table and engaging with community partners to open opportunities and pathways for our residents. This is part of One YMCA’S overall mission to break the cycle of homelessness.
As the a resilience worker you will play a pivotal role in complementing the work of support and complex needs workers, bringing exercise and physical activity to our accommodation sites, and showing people what a powerful tool it can be in building resilience and increasing wellbeing
Location and Transport: Although Hatfield will be your base for this work, you will be required to travel to sites throughout Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, and Buckinghamshire. A vehicle will be supplied.
Hours: We have two part-time vacancies available: one for 20 hours per week and one for 15 hours per week. Flexible working patterns are available.
The Vacancy
• Deliver Health and Wellbeing activities, sessions, and events for One YMCA residents.
• Liaise with necessary stakeholders, partners and clinical services who are involved in the programme on a regular basis.
• Work as part of a team to identify opportunities for improvement of the programme and design of effective sessions based upon resident and group feedback
• Track all session delivery and measure outcomes and outputs effectively to ensure reporting is accurate and delivered on-time.
• Work closely with One YMCA Marketing & communications and One YMCA Housing teams to deliver content and attract participants.
• Lead by example by demonstrating excellent customer service, coaching delivery skills and professionalism.
• Ensure instruction and advice offered to residents is safe & of a high quality
• Keep up to date with industry knowledge and developments.
• Track session attendance and measure outcomes and outputs effectively to ensure reporting is accurate and delivered on-time.
Requirements
• Good level of knowledge of the health and fitness industry
• Experience in fitness instruction and class delivery
• Mental Health First Aid Qualification (or willing to work towards)
• Experience of supporting vulnerable adults in a homelessness/social care or other relevant setting
