Job summary

A local authority is seeking a Community Safety Officer to assess risks related to crime and antisocial behaviour. Job Summary:

• The Community Safety Officer is responsible for assessing risk and delivering specialist interventions in response to concerns related to crime and antisocial behaviour.

• This role involves coordinating partnership resources, making operational decisions, and leading communication with key stakeholders to ensure safe and cohesive communities.

• The officer will act as a key point of contact for community members seeking advice, support, and action on safety-related matters.

Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample):

• Conduct assessments of risk relating to crime and antisocial behaviour and deliver appropriate responses.

• Respond to community requests for assistance, information, and advice, using professional judgement to allocate resources effectively.

• Lead on resolving community safety concerns through coordinated interventions.

• Engage and maintain effective relationships with a broad range of stakeholders, including councillors, council departments, police, safeguarding boards, the criminal justice system, and community groups.

• Work in collaboration with internal teams and external partners to implement and monitor community safety strategies.

• Contribute to ongoing casework management and ensure accurate record-keeping and reporting.

Skills/Experience:

• Proven experience in community safety, antisocial behaviour management, or a similar public-facing role.

• Strong knowledge of crime prevention, safeguarding, and antisocial behaviour legislation and procedures.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including experience working with councillors, law enforcement, legal agencies, and community groups.

• • Ability to make risk-based decisions independently and work under pressure in complex and sensitive situations.

• Experience in coordinating multi-agency responses and managing cross-organisational partnerships.

• Strong report writing, case management, and administrative skills.
