Want to make a real difference to vulnerable people’s lives? At NRS Healthcare, we’ve recently set up a team who will do just that and we’re looking to add to it!
As Community Responder, you’ll be that additional emergency service. Reporting into our York Service Centre, you’ll support hundreds of patients in 7 districts, supporting 8 hospitals.

When our service users are in need, we really can make a huge difference to their lives whether it’s through providing emergency care, assisting with falls, providing support to any assistive technology or simply popping in to a vulnerable service user who needs some reassurance, this role offers the most vulnerable people the best possible service.

Our team operates a 24 hour service, working 12 hour shifts on a 2 day (8am-8pm), 2 night (8pm-8am), 6 days off basis.

As part of the role, you’ll be given a van with the right equipment to assist you in your duties and you’ll have the option to leave your own vehicle at the York Service Centre whilst on shift. On your night shift, you’ll have the van with you to respond as quickly as possible to our service users’ needs.

Ideally, you’ll have experience of working with vulnerable patients. Most importantly, you’ll be someone who is passionate about caring for vulnerable people and have the empathy and personable skills which such a vocational role warrants.

As this role is working with our service users, we require an enhanced DBS to be completed as part of your onboarding.

Our working environment
Situated in York on the Sterling Business Park, free parking is available onsite with standard office facilities. Whilst on the road, you’ll be provided with a van to drive so a driving license is an obvious requirement for this role.
You will get full in house training for emergency response first aid, manual handling, using lifting equipment as part of this role. You will not be expected to deliver Domiciliary care but instead you will be trained to sign post to other agencies to give the right care for the person.

About us
NRS Healthcare are a community equipment service to Local Authorities, NHS trusts and private service users. Put simply, we make it possible for patients leaving hospital, who require changes to their home-living environment, to be able to remain at home.
Care is at the heart of everything we do.

We offer competitive salaries, full training and development for your role, as well as a wide range of benefits.
Some of these include:

  • 33 days annual holiday inclusive of bank holidays (rising 1 day per year after 3 years to a maximum of 38 days)
  • Pension Scheme and Life Assurance
  • Exclusive employee discounts, savings and competitions
