What you’ll do…

As a Community Ranger, you will support the Mid Devon beat team in ensuring our forests are safe and welcoming for visitors by carrying out inspections, undertaking minor repairs and providing presence in our forests.

You will help to communicate and engage stakeholders with our work, telling our story positively and proactively and facilitating various opportunities.

A particular focus of this role will be to help improve the Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) at Haldon through a mixture of contract management, working with the forest craftspeople and through the delivery of volunteer groups.

Where you’ll work…

The West England Forest District team are custodians of 38,500 ha of the Nations Forests in the west and south-west of England. Our woods can be found from Shrewsbury in the north to the majestic veteran trees of Savernake Forest near Marlborough, and the conifer forests on Bodmin Moor, and ancient woodlands of the Glynn Valley in Cornwall.

This role is based at Bullers Hill, Kennford, Exeter.

Alongside your salary, Forestry England contributes an average of 28.97% towards your pension. You will become a member of the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension Scheme.
