Job description

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK, employing around 40,000 staff across a wide range of clinical and non-clinical roles. We provide acute hospital, primary, community, and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million, expanding to 2.2 million with regional and national services.

  • Hours: 37 hours per week
  • Shift pattern: Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm
  • This post is permanent
  • Requirement: A live NMC UK pin is essential for consideration.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Community Nurse within South Glasgow Older Peoples Mental Health. The service operates across two sites: Shawmill Resource Centre in Pollokshaws and Elderpark Clinic in Govan. Both sites host multidisciplinary teams including Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Pharmacists, and mental health nursing and support staff.

The role involves comprehensive assessment and treatment of individuals over 65 with mental health issues, often complex and with co-morbidities. The nurse will assess patient care needs, develop and evaluate care programs, and work collaboratively with patients, carers, and other professionals in line with standards and policies, operating autonomously without direct supervision. The post also involves participation in caseload supervision with a Band 6 CPN, mentoring student nurses and unqualified staff, and demonstrating procedures.
