An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Community Practitioner to join our expanding Community Eating Disorders Service in the Specialist Children and Young Peoples CBU (CYP CEDS).

The service provides specialist assessment and community treatment for individuals and their families who are experiencing an eating disorder cover a large geographical area of Sunderland, South Tyneside, Gateshead, Newcastle, Northumberland and North Tyneside.

The expectation is the post holder will need to drive across to various satellite bases.

Main duties of the job

The service is committed to working with families, children and young people to support recovery utilising evidence based practice: Family Based Treatment (FBT) alongside monitoring of their physical health wellbeing.

This is a full time, band 6 post. You will be a First Level Registered Nurse - RMN/RNMH/RNLD Qualification and have a minimum of 24 months'post qualification experience, preferably within the field of Eating Disorders.

Working with this client group you will be adaptable and work well under pressure with strong decision making skills and a positive attitude andapproach. The candidate will hold excellent communication skills and demonstrate an understanding of the complexities involved in this specialistarea of mental health.

The successful candidate will be joining a skilled integrated multi-disciplinary team working with children, young people and families.

The service is supportive to its staff offering learning and training opportunities, clinical supervision and a supportive, collaborative team culture.

The post holder will be required to travel across the site as needed.

However this team is merging with our North of Tyne team and will be based at Benton House with the vision of this taking place this year. Person Specification
Education and Qualification
  • First Level Registered Nurse RNMH, RNLD or equivalent first level qualification e.g Social Worker, AHP or clinical psychologist
  • Evidence of post-registration training in clinical/ psychological interventions / skills relevant to the post
  • Proven track record of post registration clinical experience relevant to the post
  • Training in CPA (Care Programme Approach), Safeguarding, MAPPA (Multi Agency Public Protection Arrangements)
  • Up to date knowledge / experience of relevant legislation
  • Post registration qualifications in psychological interventions
  • Experience of working within a community team
  • Non Medical Prescribing
Knowledge and Experience
  • minimum of 24 months' post qualification experience
