We currently have a vacancy for a Community Park Ranger. We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated person to join our team working across the city. You will be working in Derby’s beautiful parks and green spaces which are visited by over a million people each year and provide a vital role in delivering health and wellbeing outcomes and enhancing people’s quality of life.

As part of the Parks Team, you will be involved in the management of a wide range of sites including around 400 green spaces such as six Green Flag Parks, Local Nature Reserves, Children’s Playgrounds, Park Buildings, and extensive Playing Fields, supporting grassroots outdoor sport. We work with a wide range of partners, including over 25 Parks Friends Groups and the Derby Park Volunteers who undertake nature conservation work on parks two days a week.

We are seeking a hard-working team player who can work independently using their own initiative across various parks and nature reserves to make a difference for people and nature.

  • Confidence using Information Technology (IT).
  • Interest and awareness of environmental issues affecting parks and green spaces.
  • Skills in landscape and habitat management.

You should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, be approachable, friendly, self-motivated, and committed to high-quality service. Flexibility, willingness to perform cleaning duties, and a full, clean driving license are essential to drive council vehicles across the city.
