A health service provider in Carlisle is seeking a passionate Community Paediatric Speech & Language Therapist to join their team. You will work with children to support their language and communication needs, delivering targeted interventions and collaborating with stakeholders. Ideal candidates will have a degree in Speech and Language Therapy and relevant registration. We are seeking a passionate, innovative and motivated Speech and Language Therapist to join our Children's Speech and Language Therapy Team in North Cumbria. The team provide a service to the East of the Cumberland district.
The role will be to support the development and delivery of the targeted and universal levels of the speech and language therapy service in line with current commission requirements.
To develop and deliver the targeted and universal levels of the speech and language therapy service in line with current commission requirements.
To collaborate with interagency work to ensure all children have appropriate language and communication opportunities to reach their desired outcomes.
Share expertise related to key messages and to model best practise with colleagues, families and practitioners, through delivery of training and signposting to other agencies.
To audit and review outcomes for stakeholders and children accessing targeted and universal speech and language therapy service levels.
To undertake effective and holistic assessment of children referred to understand the functional impact of any speech, language or communication.
In line with service demand, to assume responsibility and accountabilityfor a caseload of children and/or young people with diverse presentations holding the duty of care and prioritizing and managing the caseload independently.
In collaboration with the Band & Universal and Targeted Lead SLT, contribute to delivery of the universal and targeted speech and language therapy service. This will include:
identifying and utilising outcome measures in partnership with Universal SLT colleagues across the county and the management team, to measure the impact of the universal role
delivering and reinforcing key universal messages to families and practitioners in order to help develop children's communication skills.
planning and delivering training across the children's workforce to develop awareness of the importance of communication skills for every child
raising quality of provision in early years settings to support communication.
developing and reviewing referral criteria, pathways and screening tools.
supporting work at the pre-referral stage (e.g. triage function, health promotion and education, expectations of referrers etc)
raising awareness of the universal speech and language therapy role/service. -promotion of this level of response as being timely, safe and proximal to the child
contributing to relevant joint strategy development
establishing targeted level offer
