Community Nursery Nurse for Infant Mental Health Team

The primary role of the Community Nursery Nurse involves visiting infants in their homes or at alternative venues such as clinical settings or community spaces across Hampshire, as delegated by the Infant Mental Health Team, Health Visitors, and Early Years Practitioners.

The role includes working in partnership with internal and external colleagues, demonstrating knowledge of the parent-infant relationship and contemporary issues impacting child development, infant mental health, and wellbeing. The role holder will collaborate with team members to promote evidence-based approaches that support infant-led play, language development, infant-parent interactions, and foster attachment and bonding with parents.

The role also involves supporting the health and wellbeing of infants and their families through individualized health care plans under the supervision of a team health visitor. The post requires a comprehensive understanding of infant and childhood development, ensuring service delivery aligns with the Healthy Child Programme 0-19yrs and the Trust's vision and values.

The Nursery Nurse may contribute to monitoring quality and compliance, reporting risks, and supporting early intervention to improve outcomes and reduce health inequalities. The role includes maintaining accurate electronic records, supporting safeguarding protocols, and working within multi-agency teams to ensure holistic family-centered care.

Responsibilities include supporting attachment and bonding, assisting families with understanding infants' perspectives, promoting healthy sleep routines, supporting feeding and development, and providing holistic advice. The role emphasizes a family approach, requiring collaboration with various professionals and agencies to deliver consistent and effective care.

The postholder will work autonomously within the team, managing their own schedule, developing care plans, and engaging in continuous professional development. The role also involves contributing to service improvements through feedback and participating in training and supervision as required.
