Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for a Registered Mental Health Nurse to join the Mental Health Homeless Team (MHHT) as a Community Psychiatric Nurse.

Based at East Brighton Community Mental Health Centre, MHHT is a small multidisciplinary specialist team providing assessment, treatment, and support to homeless or insecurely housed individuals with severe and enduring mental illnesses, including those with additional substance misuse issues.

This position offers the Trust's £2,000 Golden Hello or Relocation Incentive for Band 5-6 Nurses & Practitioners (pro rata and subject to terms and conditions; please see attached Protocol Document for full details).

Main Duties
  • Conduct complex assessments and risk assessments in various settings.
  • Manage a complex caseload as a lead practitioner.
  • Provide assertive outreach services in partnership with local homeless agencies from both statutory and voluntary sectors.
  • Require a basic understanding of housing legislation relevant to Brighton and Hove and familiarity with recent social legislation changes affecting this client group.

Qualifications (Essential)
  • Current registration as a Nurse (mental health/LD/adult)
  • Completion of Mentorship Course/ENB equivalent
Knowledge/Experience (Essential)
  • Significant post-qualifying experience in the relevant care group
  • Experience working with individuals with complex health problems
  • Experience supervising staff
  • Experience providing clinical interventions and conducting assessments including risk assessments
  • Experience in partnership working across statutory and non-statutory teams
Desirable
  • Additional supervisory experience
