Job overview

We recruit people based on their values and believe that their lived experience is an advantage. We seek out potential, not perfection, and this means that together we are as diverse as the communities we care for. When we employ caring people who act with integrity and have the right skills, we can give those with mental health challenges, learning disabilities and neurodiversity high-quality care and support to live fulfilling lives, and make our staff feel purposeful, happy and valued.

We focus on principles, passions, and behaviors in our recruitment. Attached to this advert are supporting documents, including the Recruitment Profile, Benefits document, and a guide to our values-based recruitment approach.

As an employer, we host the trainee mental health/learning disability nurse apprenticeship role, which sits alongside our existing registered nursing associates and registered nurses to deliver hands-on care for service users, alongside Allied Health Professionals and medical colleagues. The nursing associate role is a gateway to becoming a registered Nurse via an additional apprenticeship route.

Main duties of the job

We offer an exciting opportunity for a Trainee Registered Nurse (MH/LD) Apprenticeship within LYPFT. The scheme is run in partnership with a leading training provider to support you through a high-quality training program. You will gain valuable experience and a strong foundation for future careers, with a permanent position offered after successful completion.

We will support your learning and skills development, with guidance from our Apprenticeship team and your team manager. Requirements include certificates in Maths and English at Level 2 and existing associate Foundation Degree credits. During the apprenticeship, you will be a band 4 Trainee Registered Nurse (Mental Health/Learning Disability), expected to fulfill full responsibilities by the end of training. Upon successful completion, you will progress to band 5 Registered Nurse (Mental Health/Learning Disability).
