Job Description:

Job overview

Are you interested in joining a Trust committed to your development?

Would you like to be part of an organisation that really values your well-being?

Do you want to treat people rather than conditions?

Here at KCHFT we are constantly working to improve the lives of our staff and our patients. We care for you so you can care for your patients.

Our “We Care” strategy means that our ambitions are to put our communities first, deliver a better patient experience and importantly, be a great place to work for all of our workforce.

These aren’t just empty words either. At our “Outstanding” rated trust more than half of our workforce work flexibly, including compressed hours and term time only. More than 70% of our workforce feel we take positive action on health and wellbeing, and we aim to improve this. We are proud to say that we consistently score above the national average in our staff survey results, particularly for our focus on the well-being of our workforce.

And with the forward NHS vision being based on community care, there has never been a better time to join us.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a Band 5 Nurse to join our Urgent Care service in Thanet.

As Community Nurses we support the nursing needs of house bound patients living in and around the areas of Thanet. We will enable and empower patients to self-care where possible so that patients can stay safe and well at home or in their chosen environment. We provide valuable care, supporting people to manage their long-term conditions and maximise their independence, which in turn can prevent admission into hospital or enable a quicker discharge if they are admitted. As a service, we provide wound management, palliative and end of life care and symptom control and catheter care. We also take blood and administer injectable medication. Our aim is to ensure that our patients have access to the care that they need, at the time they need it.

You’ll play a vital role in our multidisciplinary services; managing patients with complex needs in the community. You’ll have the freedom to plan care in your own way, with time to develop your assessment and treatment skills, and access to great supervision and a clinical lead to make sure you’re on the right track. We also have a nurturing preceptee programme and many development opportunities to support you. Our aim is to build on collaborations so that we can continue to build a positive patient experience.

Working for our organisation

One of the largest community NHS trusts in the UK, KCHFT are rated ‘outstanding’ by the CQC. We’ve got a passion for delivering high standards of care to patients and deliver excellent services to improve the health of our communities. To do this we need outstanding people who share our values C ompassionate A spirational R esponsive E xcellent

We’re committed to equality, diversity and inclusion, which leads to better patient care and a happier workforce. So, all our colleagues have equal access to career opportunities.

Flexibility is another way we do this. In the NHS, we’re reminded every day how important life is. As a flexible working friendly organisation, we want you to be able to work in a way that is best for us, for our patients and for you. Speak to us about how we might be able to accommodate a flexible working arrangement without having to sacrifice time for personal interests or family commitments. Looking for professional development? We can support that too! Our will help you achieve your aspirations
