Job description
Overview

Join our team of dedicated Community Midwives at St Helier. We have an exciting opportunity to join us as a Band 6 Community Midwife. Our maternity team provides a forward-thinking environment, offering comprehensive and high-quality care to women and their families, with a focus on woman-centred, individualised care to a diverse population.

We care for approximately 4,300 women annually across two sites, utilising digital maternity systems. The service offering includes assisted conception, community services, obstetric-led labour wards, birth centres, specialist midwifery teams, and a home birth team. The team continually aims to improve service delivery and workforce development and collaborates with local maternity systems.

We offer extensive in-house training and professional growth opportunities, working in one of our welcoming and supportive teams, at the forefront of midwifery service provision.

If you’re ready to advance in your career or seeking a fresh opportunity, we’d love to hear from you.

Main duties

At Epsom and St Helier we pride ourselves on flexible working arrangements, in-service training, and a positive working culture. Our Community midwives provide high standard midwifery care in the community and will carry out all relevant forms of midwifery care, supervising midwives, preceptors, maternity assistants, and students as necessary.

Role will include:

  • Assessing, planning and implementing care plans in partnership with women and their families and the wider healthcare team
  • Monitoring and evaluating plan of care, escalating any deviations from the norm to the MDT
  • Providing care in antenatal and postnatal clinics in the community
  • Carrying out home visits to families
  • Running clinics from the hospital
  • Within service limitations, strive for continuity and promote informed client choice
  • Work as part of the second-on-call rota to support the homebirth team

We are seeking experienced midwives with a great team ethic. A car driver would be ideal, who brings a flexible approach to work.
