Join Our Moving Forward Team - Community Mental Health Support Worker

Location: South Tyneside (Hybrid)

Contract: Permanent, 30 hours per week

We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate and dedicated individual to join our Moving Forward team, supporting people across South Tyneside.

As a Community Mental Health Support Worker, you’ll use your skills, empathy, and understanding to make a real difference in people’s lives. You’ll listen actively, help individuals express their needs, set meaningful goals, and find solutions that work for them. Working alongside each person, you’ll help them build skills, confidence, and resilience so they can take part in activities that improve their mental health and wellbeing - and equip them to face future challenges.

Your Role Will Focus On

  • Supporting individuals to maintain good mental health and access the right support for their needs
  • Encouraging personal growth and helping people work towards their long-term aspirations
  • Delivering services in line with our values of accountability, respect, excellence, innovation, and compassion

About You

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • Significant experience working 1:1 with people, including those with complex or enduring mental health needs, ideally in community-based settings
  • Experience in health, social care, or the voluntary/community sector
  • An understanding of mental health issues, stigma, discrimination, and recovery approaches
  • A proactive approach to improving services and trying new ways of working
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships at all levels
  • A collaborative, team-focused attitude and the ability to contribute constructively
  • A willingness to develop your skills and make the most of personal growth opportunities
