Job description

Community Heat and Energy Project Manager

Salary: £33,962 annually for 4 days a week, equivalent to £42,452 full-time.

Location: Birmingham, with some travel across the UK and occasional attendance at our Camden office.

Description: Community Heat and Energy Project Manager
Possible is a climate action charity focused on solutions that improve lives, support communities, reduce costs, and cut carbon emissions. Our "Where We Live" initiative aims to enhance the deployment of clean, affordable heat and energy, and improve home insulation.
We seek an experienced professional in community energy and/or heat projects. Are you passionate about advancing local, innovative clean energy projects that reduce emissions and energy poverty, and empower communities? Do you enjoy collaborating with communities to design and implement effective local energy solutions? If yes, we want to hear from you!
As our Community Heat and Energy Project Manager, you will be instrumental in delivering our new community heat and energy workstrand. You will coordinate with expert partners to progress local renewable energy projects at three sites, focusing on enabling clean heat solutions and overcoming barriers such as local energy supply and demand matching.
Your responsibilities include collaborating with key partners, including community groups and research organizations. While the project design phase is mostly complete, there is room for innovative delivery approaches.
All staff contribute to our anti-oppression initiatives, participate in team meetings and training, and help shape organizational strategies. We foster a supportive, inclusive environment where everyone contributes in their own way.
About Possible
At Possible, we empower people to take meaningful climate action through creative, community-driven initiatives. Our values—daring, joy, and community—inspire us to tackle climate change with optimism and fun. From electronics repair to urban greening and policy advocacy, our work aims to motivate widespread climate engagement.
Commitment to anti-oppression
We strive for a diverse, inclusive organization reflecting the UK’s demographics. We welcome applicants from marginalized groups, including People of Colour, disabled individuals, those from low-income backgrounds, and members of the LGBTQ+ community. We are happy to discuss the role with candidates from non-traditional backgrounds or with questions about our practices—please contact Ali via email.
Role specifics:

  • Contract: 18 months fixed-term, with no current sponsorship options.
  • Salary: £33,962 for 4 days/week, with annual cost-of-living increases. Salary is fixed.
  • Location: Flexible within the UK, with some site visits and occasional office days in London.
  • Working hours: 0.8 FTE, primarily Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with flexible options.

Managed by Alethea Warrington, Head of Aviation, Heat and Energy, and collaborating with various internal and external partners.
