Job description

Community Growing Space: Chadwell Volunteer

To support in maintaining a community garden and growing space alongside other local volunteers and staff. Tasks will include:

  1. Seed sowing in a polytunnel or directly into beds
  2. Creating growing structures to support climbing plants
  3. Using cloches and fleeces to protect against frost and extend the season

The produce will be shared between the gardening group and can be used to contribute to the local community pantry.

Skills

Previous experience in gardening or growing would help but is not essential for this role. We are here to support those who would like to expand their knowledge and learn new skills.

  • Suitable for under 18s (Ideally 16 plus, but younger applicants will be considered)
  • Training provided
  • Volunteers covered by insurance
When can I volunteer?

This is flexible but volunteers must be available when the library is open.

Availability Details

The library opens Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10am to 5pm and also on a Saturday from 10am to 1pm.
