Job summary

Nacro is seeking a Community Gateway Officer to serve the Carmarthenshire area, working as part of the Connecting Carmarthenshire Preventative Service. You will build knowledge of local services, connect people with information and opportunities, and support early intervention to promote wellbeing.

The role requires regular travel across an allocated area and a full UK driving license with access to your own vehicle and business insurance.

Qualifications

• Experience in community engagement, outreach or wellbeing services.
• Knowledge of local voluntary and statutory networks or the ability to develop this knowledge quickly.
• Understanding of strengths-based practice and early intervention.
• Experience collaborating with different agencies and people with lived experience.
• Awareness of safeguarding, professional boundaries, confidentiality and secure record keeping.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of local services, groups and provision, identifying opportunities and gaps in support.
• Build strong relationships with community organisations, statutory services and local partners for a coordinated approach to wellbeing.
• Plan and deliver accessible community pop-up drop-ins and outreach activities for welcoming support.
• Hold strengths-based wellbeing conversations to understand needs, priorities and aspirations.
• Connect individuals with appropriate resources and facilitate referrals and warm handovers when needed.

This role offers a starting salary within Nacro’s pay structure with expected progression within the first year, subject to meeting clear criteria and performance standards, with further pay progression available in the future. Working as part of the Connecting Carmarthenshire Preventative Service, the Community Gateway Officer will build detailed knowledge of local services, grassroots projects, community assets and informal networks, connecting people with the right information, opportunities and support at the earliest possible stage.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of local services, community groups, grassroots initiatives and statutory provision, identifying opportunities and gaps in support
• Build strong relationships with community organisations, statutory services and local partners to promote a coordinated approach to well-being and early intervention
• Plan and deliver accessible community pop-up drop-ins and outreach activities, providing a welcoming point of contact for individuals seeking support.
• Hold strengths-based well-being conversations to understand individual needs, priorities and aspirations, promoting choice, independence and resilience
• Connect individuals with appropriate community resources, activities and support services, facilitating referrals and warm handovers where additional or statutory support is required.

YOUR KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

• Experience of community engagement, outreach, preventative support, advice, well-being or partnership-based services.
• Knowledge of local voluntary, community and statutory support networks, or the ability to develop and maintain this knowledge quickly.
• Understanding of strengths-based practice, early intervention, social inclusion and the factors affecting independence and well-being.
• Experience of working collaboratively with different agencies, community groups and people with lived experience.
• Awareness of safeguarding, professional boundaries, confidentiality and secure record keeping.
