Job summary

The Hidden Gardens is seeking a Community Gardener to lead the practical gardening and outdoor learning activity within The Growing Place, a three-year participatory programme funded by The National Lottery Community Action Fund.

You will co-design and deliver weekly sessions, help participants grow plants, create habitats and learn about biodiversity, working with the Head Gardener and the Community Programme Manager to plan, monitor and evaluate the project.

Qualifications

• Hands-on horticultural role requiring physical work.
• Ability to share knowledge in a practical, welcoming way.

Responsibilities

• Co-design and deliver weekly practical gardening and outdoor learning sessions.
• Create inclusive activities for all ages and abilities.
• Help participants access nature and build practical skills and confidence.
• Gather feedback and contribute to evaluation and celebrate achievements.
• Work with Head Gardener on horticultural care and development.
• Care for trees, borders, lawns, glasshouses and nursery areas.
• Create wildlife habitats and monitor biodiversity.
• Use climate-responsive gardening practices to support biodiversity and resilience.
• Encourage curiosity and a connection with the natural world through practical experiences.
