An exciting opportunity has arisen for a candidate to join Westmorland and Furness Council as a Community Finance Officer covering the South Lakes area.
The Community Finance Team provides services including financial assessments for care services, invoicing assessed client charges, and providing accurate and timely advice and information, along with proactive account management.
The successful applicant will work in a busy operational finance service, responsible for legally compliant financial assessments for clients eligible for non-residential and residential services, determining their ability to contribute towards care costs in line with the Care Act 2014 and Council Policy.
Playing an essential role within the team, you will work closely with internal and external services to ensure fair assessments while maximizing income for the Council and supporting vulnerable people through proactive account management.
Applicants should have experience in a customer-focused environment, ideally with a financial background, demonstrating patience and understanding. Sensitivity when dealing with clients or their representatives and adherence to Information Governance legislation are essential.
The candidate must handle financial issues appropriately, comply with legislation and policy, and be comfortable with lone working, including home visits.

Excellent customer care and communication skills are required. Teamwork, commitment to continuous improvement, understanding of technical policies and legislation, and ideally, knowledge of Adult Social Care (ASC) services are desirable.
