The successful candidate will be working with colleagues and partners in the local health economy to identify and build sustainable relationships with our staff, communities, seldom heard groups and communities experiencing health inequalities across Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and mid Wales.

The post holder will be based at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital but will be required to travel to off-site locations and to work cross site on some occasions. Occasionally the post holder will need to work in the evenings and weekends to support events the Trust are attending. A full UK driving licence and reliable use of a car are required for this role.

Main duties of the job
  • Actively support development and implementation of the Community Engagement Strategy (2025-2030), which promotes the involvement and inclusion of our local communities with the Trust
  • Develop new and innovative ways of involving seldom heard communities and those experiencing health inequalities, with the Trust.
  • Understand the Equality Act (2010) and Health Inequalities and how they may affect our communities’ access to health services
  • Support Trust staff from different departments to undertake engagement activity for example surveys, pop up events etc.
  • Attend events to support the Trust’s engagement with its local communities
  • Support the Public Participation team’s work to increase the diversity of community membership and public involvement volunteers.
  • Network and liaise with third sector and voluntary organisations.
  • Support the team in meeting the Trust’s statutory obligations under Section 242 of the NHS Act 2006 to involve patients, carers and the public in decision-making and service planning.
  • Support the Trust in carrying out Equality and Health Inequality Impact Assessments in relation to service changes
Working for your organisation

The post holder will be part of the Public Participation Department, which includes Community Engagement, SaTH Charity and Volunteers.

We are an organisation that strives to provide high quality, safe care for our patients in an environment which our staff are proud to work in. We believe that by adhering to our Vision (“To provide excellent care for the communities we serve”) and working with our Trust Values in mind (Partnering, Ambitious, Caring, Trusted) we can achieve the right results for the people that matter most – our patients and their families.
