Responsibilities
Community Engagement:
- Drive the communication strategy with members, overseeing external communications, including PR, website updates, and social media content.
- Cultivate and maintain strong working relationships with the Rabbinic team, collaborating closely with the Campus Manager, the team of Honorary Officers, Council members and other volunteers.
- Adapt and respond to dynamic community needs and unexpected challenges promoting clear and transparent communication, both internally and externally.
- Support and expand the volunteer base, actively recruiting volunteers and program leaders for the Shul and its events.
- Take responsibility for promoting the synagogue to potential members, having a clear growth strategy.
- Actively identify marketing and promotion opportunities through both traditional and digital channels.
- Execute and advance the marketing strategy, collaborating with the Chair/Board and Rabbinic team to implement necessary developments.
- Manage member communications via email, including supervising the design of the newsletters, mailouts and event announcements to achieve maximum impact/penetration of relevant demographic groups.
- Promote our brand, policies, and core values, expanding and advertising event opportunities on our website.
- Supervise all aspects of marketing material production, ensuring consistency and effective distribution.
- Conduct market research to identify interest and uptake for current and future events.
- Evaluate membership research, sector conditions, and competitor data, implementing adjustments to the marketing plan as needed.
- Ensure that all marketing activities are executed within agreed-upon budgets, in collaboration with our Financial Representative.
- Collaborate with the United Synagogue’s Marketing Department to secure frequent, timely, and positive media coverage.
- Develop and maintain a network of appropriate contacts.
- Manage our social media platforms, ensuring regular and engaging posts on Facebook and Twitter.
- Support new members’ programs, ensuring a warm welcome, and regularly update the new members’ pack.
Events Management:
- Oversee and facilitate all Synagogue events, ensuring the delivery of diverse activities that effectively engage the community.
- Work closely with the Campus and Programme Administrator ensuring the security and cleaning are set up for the events.
- Develop, facilitate, execute and oversee our events from proposal through final delivery, ensuring seamless execution.
- Strategically plan for Synagogue events and the overall calendar, with a particular emphasis on simchas, including Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, Aufrufs, weddings, etc.
- Develop, maintain, and deliver an annual plan for events that thoughtfully represents the community’s diversity.
- Work alongside the Rabbinic team, with research, venue booking, negotiation of costs, and efficient project management.
- Establish, communicate, and maintain project timelines and priorities for events, ensuring timely and successful delivery.
- Implement systematic approaches to manage invitations, sign-ups, guest lists, and discounts for events and utilise the US event management system.
- Oversee event budgets in conjunction with the Financial Representative.
- Organise appropriate sponsorship opportunities when applicable and collaborate with the United Synagogue for promotional materials.
- Foster a Volunteer Support culture, developing tools and templates for mobilising volunteers for events.
- Work in conjunction with Youth Directors, Assistant Rabbi, and volunteers, to support children’s events and programming, ensuring alignment with overall engagement goals.
Online Presence and Support:
- Assume overall responsibility for the Synagogue website, working closely with volunteers to ensure timely updates and relevant content.
- Assume responsibility for Synagogue social media channels, including Facebook and Instagram.
- Manage Synagogue PR in Jewish press, ensuring effective and strategic communication.
- Offer annual Synagogue magazine support to the editor and volunteers.
