Building a sustainable tomorrow

BAM are currently recruiting for a Community Engagement Coordinator to assist with our Argyll Projects in Scotland. Your work will support our projects to deliver excellent stakeholder management and community relations in line with our BAM policies, processes and strategies. You will liaise with internal and external stakeholders, and ensure we are positively delivering for clients and communities. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic team environment and deliver stakeholder management outcomes in line with our social sustainability strategy.

The role will involve a mixture of working from our office, from home and on project site. Hybrid flexible working arrangements are encouraged and actively supported.

Your mission
  • Support the development and maintenance of stakeholder management documentation, such as stakeholder management trackers, engagement plans, satisfaction surveys, notices as required, complaints management

  • Engages meaningfully with a variety stakeholders and diverse groups across a project lifecycle to identify, understand and respond to their needs and perspectives, and manage ongoing relationships effectively

  • Manages correspondence with identified stakeholders ensuring all responses are timely, accurate and of high quality in both tone and content

  • Contribute to processes which coordinate, record and report on engagement with key stakeholders

  • Managing working relationships with internal stakeholders and contractors’ ensuring they understand clients’ commitments, behaviour expectations, and metrics by which they will be measured

  • Developstakeholder management documentation and processes aligned to client expectations, contractual requirements & BAM’s polices and systems

  • Collates all required data and evidence from project teams, stakeholders and supply chain to ensure timely reporting relating to stakeholder management

  • Aware of key legislation and government guidance relating to social value, planning, and environmental regulation in relation to stakeholder management

  • Carry out engagement and research at a local level to inform and support Local Needs Analysis and development of stakeholder management documentation

  • Supports the development of new stakeholder management materials and solutions, in response to project, regional, segment and UK&I priorities

  • Works with colleagues in the Communications and Marketing departments to ensure timely, coordinated and consistent two-way information flows for stakeholders

  • Support the delivery of marketing/ communications activity, feeding into communications plans associated with Enabling Service workstreams

  • Manage and mitigate risks to the organisation through early identification escalation, reporting and management of potential risks

  • Supports effective performance reporting through provision of data and evidence which supports project performance, client reporting and reporting into the BAM Social Sustainability Reporting Tool

  • Developand managecollaborative relationships with community groups, partners and geographies considering diverse needs and perspectives

  • Support the mitigation, management and resolution of risks linked to community engagement

  • Informs decisions on planning and investment related to partnerships required for community engagement

Who are we looking for?
  • Ideally a degree level qualification or equivalent

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Be highly competent in MS Suite – especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • Ability to work well in a team

  • Experience of writing tender responses and supporting tender submissions

  • Excellent organisational / time management skills

  • Ability to work under pressure and to be able to deal with conflict

  • A willingness to travel regularly throughout the region, and UK&I as required, and ideally a full UK driving licence

  • Have an understanding of societal, industry and legislative drivers of social value and stakeholder management and be informed by thought leadership, best practice and research

  • Enthusiasm and ability to inspire, influence and engage a broad cross section of stakeholders
