Job summary

Essex County Council is seeking a Community Support Worker ASC to join Adult Social Care on a permanent, full-time basis. The role is based in Maldon, with an anywhere worker style and a closing date of 29 September 2026.

You will work with qualified social workers to deliver targeted interventions, supporting vulnerable adults within their care plans and contributing to safeguarding and outcomes across the service.

Qualifications

• Experience within a social care setting is required.
• NVQ/BTEC Level 3 or equivalent is desirable.
• Evidence of continuing professional development is desirable.
• Experience building relationships with adults, families and carers in times of challenge.
• Experience undertaking direct, activity-based work with adults.
• Knowledge of legislative and policy guidance applicable within Social Care settings.
• Proven track record of building relationships with partners and external agencies.
• Desirable: First Aid certificate and/or Sign Language knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Support social workers and occupational therapists to implement and monitor care plans, delivering interventions for vulnerable adults.
• Maintain high standards of professional practice contributing to service improvement and the four key principles.
• Highlight issues and implement safeguarding plans for vulnerable adults.
• Build strong relationships with clients, families and carers, providing practical advice and support.
• Collaborate across the service with internal and external partner agencies to improve outcomes.
• Provide information about accessing third-party services (benefits, housing, etc.).
• Attend meetings, reviews, case conferences and court hearings to provide information and evidence.
