Community Diagnostics Nursing Associate

Morecambe Bay Primary Care Collaborative is involved in the delivery of Community Diagnostics. The role is to support patients through a diagnostic pathway. Community Diagnostics includes tests and procedures requiring specific skills and competencies to interpret results and direct patients to the next stages.
The Nursing Associate will support and deliver clinical tests, observations, and interventions within their scope of practice to the entitled patient population, working as part of the practice multidisciplinary team.
Main duties of the job
- Assist the service team in delivering effective management of patients and their needs.
- Manage patient requirements following set protocols, including inputting information into practice computer systems for recall and screening, ensuring accurate data entry for contract purposes.
- Support the implementation of new initiatives in Community Diagnostic procedures.
- Encourage development of integrated services within Primary Care, including multidisciplinary working.
- Recognise opportunities for partnership with Primary and Secondary care teams.
- Prioritise health problems and intervene appropriately, including in urgent or emergency situations, with initiation of emergency care if needed.
- Deliver opportunistic health promotion, such as during new-patient diagnostics.
- Assist in maintaining and developing services.
- Work flexibly and unsociably to meet service demands.
- Supervise and mentor junior staff.
- Perform clinical skills such as urinalysis, ECG, blood pressure, weight, and 24-hour diagnostic testing (e.g., sleep studies, blood pressure, ECG).
- Support the implementation of evidence-based guidelines with the practice nursing team.
- Participate in annual appraisals.
Person Specification
Qualifications
- Healthcare qualification or equivalent level.
Experience
- Experience working with the general public.
- Experience in a healthcare setting.
- At least 6 months relevant primary care experience in the last 2 years.
Clinical Knowledge & Skills
- Wound care, suture and staple removal.
- ECGs, venepuncture, new patient medicals.
- Chaperone procedures.
- Ability to record accurate clinical notes.

Salary: £14 per hour, increasing to £15.50 after training completion.
