Job Introduction
Do you want to help build a brighter future for communities and individuals in Oldham & Rochdale by doing a highly rewarding job? Turning Point’s drug & alcohol services are expanding during an exciting time with new funding and investment. We have various roles for people passionate about supporting others to make change.
We offer roles in different teams including:
As a Recovery Navigator, the starting salary is £24,150 with annual pay progression up to £28,252. Dependent on experience, you may be offered a higher starting salary.
You will also receive a recruitment and retention allowance of £2,172 - £2,542, paid in addition to the basic salary depending on experience. Full details will be provided if selected for an interview. T&Cs apply.
You will have opportunities to progress your career through structured learning and clearly defined pathways, enabling you to achieve long-term goals and work to your strengths.
Whether aiming for management and leadership roles or becoming a specialist like an Advanced Substance Use Practitioner, Turning Point supports and encourages your career development.
Recovery Navigators act as ‘key workers’ for a caseload of service users, supporting them to set treatment goals and develop plans to achieve them. The role includes maintaining regular contact, providing advice, information, psycho-social interventions, assessments, risk management, and working closely with clinical staff and partner agencies. Effective communication, task management, and commitment to Turning Point values are essential. Lived experience of substance use, mental health, or homelessness, or experience supporting people in health and social care, is valuable; a genuine interest in supporting this group is also important.
You should have an understanding of substance and alcohol use and the challenges faced during recovery. Transferable skills from mental health, housing, or other health and social care backgrounds are also valued. Flexibility, ability to work dynamically both one-to-one and in groups, and knowledge of relapse and barriers to recovery are vital, with training available where needed. Excellent communication skills and shared organizational values are essential. We welcome individuals with lived experience and those interested in this field; our Trainee Recovery Worker program offers entry-level opportunities for those without all relevant experience.
We value creativity and initiative, encouraging staff to identify opportunities for service improvement. You will be supported with extensive training and a learning culture that promotes staying updated on latest developments and service enhancement.
