Job summary

Herefordshire Council is recruiting a Cooking in the Community Coordinator to lead a programme that helps Herefordshire residents cook healthy, affordable meals and boost food resilience. You will work with communities and partners to develop accessible opportunities and build capacity across the county.

The role combines practical delivery with strategic partnership work to tackle food insecurity, improve health outcomes and strengthen local food systems.

Qualifications

• You’ll bring a nutrition qualification or equivalent and significant demonstrable experience in nutrition education and healthy eating programmes.
• Experience delivering cooking workshops and food education sessions.
• Experience working with communities and building trusted relationships.

Responsibilities

• Developing and delivering engaging community cooking workshops and education sessions.
• Creating a Community Cooking Toolkit with healthy, low-cost recipes and resources.
• Designing a Train the Trainer programme to build cooking skills in communities.
• Working with residents of all ages to improve cooking confidence and healthy eating habits.
• Supporting a Community Cooking Grant Scheme and partnerships within Herefordshire.
• Representing Talk Community on the Herefordshire Food Alliance and supporting the Herefordshire Food Strategy.
• Collaborating with food banks and community organisations to strengthen local food provision.
• Developing sustainable food projects and reducing food waste.
• Mapping food security risks and opportunities across the county.
