Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated individual to join the Redbridge 0-19 Health Improvement Team, working primarily with 0-1-year-olds, supporting families with their feeding journey. You will also support the Healthy Weight/Healthy Lifestyle team with activities such as Introduction to Solids, Healthy Weight sessions, and the National Child Measurement Programme.

The successful candidate will work across the borough of Redbridge, supporting a diverse population. There will be close links with the Health Visiting and School Nursing teams, children’s centres, midwives, GPs, children’s social care, and the wider NELFT health teams.

Main duties of the job

  • Work as a member of the 0-19 Universal Health team to provide a comprehensive, effective, and culturally sensitive service to clients to deliver the Healthy Child Programme.
  • Support the delivery of education sessions focusing on the 6 High Impact areas, following a life course approach starting from breastfeeding and promoting healthy weights and eating habits within the 0-19 population.
  • Develop, in partnership, specific programmes to promote behavioral changes for children and families to support healthier lifestyles.
  • Support the development of a whole family approach that enables families and children to make healthier lifestyle choices and access information and support.
  • Provide telephone support, advice, and information to families to help them make healthy choices.
  • Support starting solid food groups and access clients through breastfeeding groups, clinics, and children’s centres.
  • Understand barriers to making healthy choices and support families to manage these in group settings or 1-2-1.
  • Participate in health promotion activities within the team to raise awareness of obesity risks and advise on healthy eating.
  • Assist in activities promoted by the Team Lead or Operational Lead to promote healthy eating.

Probationary Period

This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt unless currently on probation or a bank staff member.

High-Cost Area Supplement

This position attracts a 15% supplement of the basic salary (minimum £4,551, maximum £5,735), pro-rata for part-time staff.
