About us

Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (BHFT) was formed in April 2001 and became a Foundation Trust in May 2007. In April 2011, community services from NHS Berkshire East and NHS Berkshire West PCTs merged with the Trust.

Person Specification

Experience (Essential):

  • Excellent knowledge in specialty.
  • Strong clinical skills using a bio-psycho-social perspective and broad medical knowledge.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both oral and written.
  • Ability to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty.
  • Decision-making based on evidence and experience, including contributions from others.
  • Ability to meet duties under MHA and MCA.

Experience (Desirable):

  • Wide range of specialist and sub-specialist experience relevant to NHS or similar services.

Qualifications (Essential):

  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
  • MRCPsych or equivalent.
  • CCT in old age psychiatry or equivalent.
  • Full GMC registration with a license to practice at the time of appointment.
  • Included on the GMC Specialist Register or within six months.
  • Approved clinician status or able to achieve within 3 months.
  • Approved under S12 or able to achieve within 3 months.

Qualifications (Desirable):

  • Higher degree in medical education, clinical research, or management.
  • Additional clinical qualifications.
  • Good standing with GMC regarding warnings or conditions.
