Job summary

University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Band 4 Community Complimentary Therapist to join the Palliative Care team. The role provides holistic, person-centred therapies to patients in their homes as part of the Community Palliative Care Team across Derby.

You will work with nurses and doctors to ease symptoms; therapies may include aromatherapy, massage, reflexology and relaxation. The post is part-time (30 hours) with pro rata NHS pay.

Qualifications

• Recognised qualifications by the federation of holistic therapists.
• Possession of a valid/full driver's licence.

Responsibilities

• Deliver complementary therapy interventions tailored to the individual needs of patients, families and carers.
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate therapy programmes within a professional framework.
• Work collaboratively with specialist nursing, medical and community colleagues to provide holistic care.
• Prioritise referrals and manage your own caseload effectively.
• Support patients and their loved ones through what can often be challenging and emotional circumstances.

Job overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic and caring Complementary Therapist to join our Community Palliative Care Team (CPCT). This rewarding role offers the opportunity to provide holistic, person-centred complementary therapies to palliative care patients, their relatives and carers within their own homes across the community.

Working alongside specialist nurses, palliative medicine consultants and the wider multidisciplinary team, you will help improve quality of life by supporting the management of symptoms such as pain, anxiety, stress and sleep disturbance through complementary therapies.

Therapies may include Aromatherapy, Massage, Reflexology, Reiki, Relaxation and visualisation techniques and Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD).

Main duties of the job

Person specification

Education, Training and Qualifications

• Recognised qualifications by the federation of holistic therapists.
