Contract: 12 months (Although this position is a 12 months fixed-term contract, the actual contract duration will be adjusted to account for the time taken to advertise the post, complete the hiring process, and finalise pre-employment checks. Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a Band 7 Community Children’s Eczema Nurse Specialist to cover maternity leave. The post holder will work within the Community Children’s Nursing Team acting as an advocate for children and young people with eczema in the community and their families, promoting child-focused, family-centered care and acting as a resource for the multi-agency team. The post holder will liaise with members of the multidisciplinary team both in the hospital and in the community.

The successful candidate will be a RN (Child) and have extensive experience of working with children and young people with eczema and providing education and support on managing their condition.

The working hours are 10:00 – 18:00, 3 days a week (1 year fixed term contract).

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work in collaboration with the Paediatric Dermatology team at Barts Health Trust and the wider multidisciplinary team, to support children and young people with eczema in the community preventing referrals to tertiary care where possible.

You will lead the development of the community children’s eczema service within the borough of Tower Hamlets, ensuring standards of care are in line with the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidance.

You will be responsible for the education of children, parents/carers and staff in order to achieve the best health and well-being outcomes for every child referred to the community children’s eczema nurse service.

  • Recognised Teaching and assessing/mentoring qualification

Experience
  • Experience of providing multi-professional teaching/ education
  • Evidence of Band 6 management experience and autonomous working
  • Evidence of working well within a team
  • Experience of caring for children with eczema
  • Experience of running nurse-led clinics/ attending dermatology clinics
  • Experience of working at an equivalent band in a relevant post
  • Experience of being involved in clinical audit and evaluation
  • Previous experience of working within the community
