Job Title: Community-Based SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Home and community settings across Fareham
Hours: Full-time / Flexible part-time options available
Salary: £13.80 £16.00 (depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2025

Hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a car (essential)

The Opportunity
This is a unique and rewarding role where no two days look the same. You ll work one-to-one with children and young people who need extra support due to social, emotional, or mental health needs. Whether it s providing a structured learning activity in a park, helping a family establish daily routines, or simply being a consistent, calm presence they ll remember your impact for life.

Your Role Will Include:

  • Supporting learning and wellbeing in non-school settings

  • Building safe, respectful relationships with young people and their families

  • Adapting approaches to suit different learning styles and emotional needs

  • Helping pupils access education, either as part of reintegration or long-term outreach

  • Working closely with teachers, therapists, and support teams to monitor progress

  • Have experience working with vulnerable children or those with SEMH needs

  • Are confident, calm, and committed even on the tough days

  • Understand trauma-informed practice and how to build emotional safety

  • Are self-motivated and comfortable working alone as well as part of a team

  • Hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a car (essential)
