Xandwhy in Manchester is seeking a Community Associate to welcome members and guests, respond to enquiries, book meeting rooms and support events. This is a hands-on, reception-focused role in a busy coworking space.
You will build relationships, create a welcoming atmosphere, and help run daily operations with a friendly, proactive approach. We value attitude and hospitality as much as experience.
x+why launched in 2019 with a simple belief: business should be a force for good. We're proud to be a Certified B Corp, creating hospitality-led spaces that put people and planet alongside profit.
Today, we operate 17 coworking spaces, event venues and members' clubs across London, Birmingham, Manchester and Milton Keynes, supporting a vibrant community of 5,000+ members – with more launches on the horizon!
Full transparency, this probably isn't the job for you if…
You want to sit behind a desk all day.
You prefer every day to look exactly the same.
You'd rather not spend your day talking to people.
Still with us? Great!
We're looking for a Community Associate to join our amazing team at 100 Embankment in Manchester.
At its core, this is a reception role, but we call this position Community Associate for a reason. Yes, you'll be the friendly face welcoming members and guests, but the heart of the role is about building relationships, making connections and creating a genuine sense of community.
You’ll be joining a busy, vibrant workspace in the heart of Manchester, where no two days are quite the same. One minute you might be welcoming a new member, the next helping organise a community event, showing someone around the space or making sure everything is running smoothly behind the scenes.
Primarily based on reception, you’ll welcome members and visitors, respond to enquiries, book meeting rooms, order supplies, support events and generally help keep things ticking along nicely.
It's a hands-on, people-focused role where the little things really matter. Remembering someone's name, noticing when a member needs a hand or simply taking the time to have a chat can make all the difference.
And while you’ll have your own responsibilities, we’re a team that mucks in and helps each other out. That's just how we do things.
As the first point of contact for our members and guests, you play a big part in making 100 Embankment somewhere people genuinely enjoy coming to work.
You're naturally friendly, engaging and love getting to know people. You understand what great hospitality looks and feels like, and you take real pride in making sure everyone who walks through our doors feels welcome and looked after.
You’ll be someone who:
Loves people and genuinely enjoys building relationships.
Is organised, adaptable and happy juggling a few different things at once.
Has a warm, positive attitude and a natural flair for hospitality.
Is proactive, uses their initiative and doesn't wait to be asked.
Remains calm, patient and kind, even when things get a little hectic.
Ideally, you'll have experience in a front-of-house role within hospitality, reception or coworking. But we're far more interested in your attitude, personality and how you make people feel than having a particular job title on your CV.
Location: 100 Embankment, Manchester
Hours: Monday to Friday (8am/5pm or 9am/6pm)
We want people to enjoy coming to work. Even on Mondays.
In return, you'll get to work in a beautifully designed space with great coffee, lots of plants and a genuinely supportive (and social!) team who care about creating exceptional experiences for members, while still having fun along the way!
Located in the heart of Manchester, 100 Embankment is home to a wonderful mix of businesses and people, giving you plenty of opportunities to build relationships, make connections and become a familiar face within the community.
We're growing, and for someone curious, proactive and keen to learn, there are genuine opportunities to develop and progress along the way.
We welcome people from all walks of life, believing the best teams are shaped by different stories, experiences and perspectives. And if there's anything we can do to make the application or interview process work better for you, just let us know.
All applicants must have the right to work in the UK, as unfortunately we're unable to offer sponsorship for this role.
