Job Title: Communications Team Leader
Hours: 35 Hours Per Week
Type: Temporary ongoing
Location: Doncaster DN1 (Hybrid)
Start Date: ASAP

We’re looking for an experienced and strategic Communications Team Leader to join a dynamic Housing and Customer Services directorate. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a team delivering high-impact internal and external communications, PR, marketing, and digital inclusion initiatives that support community engagement and corporate objectives.

You’ll be instrumental in shaping the voice of the organisation building meaningful connections with tenants, residents, and stakeholders, while promoting inclusive, transparent, and innovative communication.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a multidisciplinary communications team including Officers, Designers, and Digital Inclusion Support staff.
  • Develop and deliver internal and external communications strategies that align with organisational priorities.
  • Provide clear, creative copywriting across digital and print channels, ensuring consistent brand messaging.
  • Oversee media relations, manage press enquiries, and contribute to public relations and crisis communications.
  • Deputise for the Communications and Engagement Service Manager as needed.
  • Manage digital platforms including website content, news feeds, and internal comms tools.
  • Support planning and delivery of events, campaigns, colleague engagement initiatives and digital inclusion projects.
  • Liaise with partner agencies and stakeholders to ensure cohesive, high-quality communications.
  • Monitor communications-related budgets and team workload ensuring timely and efficient delivery.
  • Champion tenant engagement and drive inclusive community communications.
  • Essential Skills & Experience:
  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in a relevant subject.
  • Significant experience in a busy communications or PR environment.
  • Strong understanding of media, branding, and stakeholder communications.
  • Proven line management experience with the ability to lead, develop and motivate a small team.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and presentation skills.
  • Experience in internal comms and digital engagement strategies.
  • Comfortable working with press, agencies, and managing sensitive or reputational issues.
  • Strong planning and project management skills with experience delivering multichannel campaigns.
  • Knowledge of the public or housing sector is highly desirable.
