Job summary

The Institution of Structural Engineers is seeking a part-time Communications and Policy Executive to help deliver external communications, policy content and sector campaigns. Hybrid working is available in London, with a starting salary of £33,755 pro rata for 21 hours per week.

You will work across media relations, policy and digital content to grow the Institution's profile and reputation globally, supporting campaigns and stakeholder communications that inform, influence and engage members

Qualifications

  • Experience delivering impactful communications campaigns that engage audiences and support organisational objectives.
  • Excellent writing skills and experience producing clear, accurate communications copy.
  • Strong media relations skills, with ability to build journalist relationships and secure coverage.
  • Solid understanding of the UK policymaking environment and the role of government, parliament and regulators.

Communications and Policy Executive

Contract: Permanent

Hours: Part-time, 21 hours per week (3 days per week)

Salary: £33,755 starting salary p/a, prorated to 21 hours, plus excellent benefits package

As Communications and Policy Executive, you'll work on sector policy initiatives, work with industry leaders and deliver sector campaigns that showcase the positive impact of structural engineering. You'll help deliver engaging communications campaigns, media relations, policy and stakeholder communications that support our members and enhance the Institution's influence and reputation worldwide.

The Role

As the Institution's Communications and Policy Executive, you will support the delivery of high-quality external communications, working across media relations, policy and digital content to grow the Institution's profile and reputation.

You will play a key role in delivering engaging sector and member campaigns, develop policy briefings and press releases, and support a fast-paced, multi-layered communications team reaching audiences across the globe.

The Communications and Policy Executive will promote the Institution's work to UK and global members, government, regulators and the media.

  • Experience delivering impactful communications campaigns that engage audiences and support organisational objectives.
  • Excellent writing skills and experience producing clear, accurate communications copy.
  • Strong media relations skills, with the ability to build journalist relationships, secure coverage and maximise opportunities across social and digital channels.
  • A solid understanding of the UK policymaking environment and the role of government, parliament and regulators in shaping public policy.
