UAR is the UK's only dedicated animal research advocacy organization. Funded by over 150 life science organizations, including top universities, research institutions, funders, charities, pharmaceutical companies, learned societies, and government agencies, our primary goal is to provide factual, evidence-based information about animal research to the public. We share stories from researchers and animal care staff, highlight medical advancements and welfare improvements, and explain regulations surrounding animal research.
The Communications Officer will be a key member of our team, responsible for enhancing UAR's reach and influence across scientific, public, media, and policy audiences through stakeholder engagement and engaging social media content.
This role involves managing UAR's social media channels, developing and implementing social media strategies, including campaigns, under the guidance of the Digital Communications Manager. The ideal candidate will be creative, communicative, and enthusiastic about creating educational content on the nuanced topic of animal research.
You will collaborate with UAR's Video Producer to plan and produce social media content. Opportunities include visiting UAR members across the UK for content creation and working on projects with universities, research institutes, funders, and government bodies.
You will also handle stakeholder engagement, including managing the day-to-day operations of the Concordat on Openness on Animal Research, under supervision from the Head of Engagement and Communications. Building relationships with key stakeholders and providing support on their behalf will be part of your responsibilities.
This role reports to the Digital Communications Manager and works closely with the Head of Engagement and Communications and the Video Producer. There are no line management duties.
