Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Greenock, is currently looking to recruit a Communications Officer (Digital) for an initial 3-month contract, with the option to extend, on a rate of £250-£350/day (Inside IR35). This is a hybrid role, mostly working from home with occasional office attendance required.
Responsibilities:
- Provide immediate support to the existing corporate communications team and their work to maintain the organisation's social media presence.
- Lead a comprehensive audit of Inverclyde Council’s social media and digital communication channels.
- Provide actionable recommendations based on the audit and draft a suggested approach for a new digital communications strategy that enhances social media performance and other highlighted channels.
- Identify target audiences and utilise platform-specific approaches to maximise engagement.
- Create engaging, creative, and impactful content (text, images, videos) tailored to various social media platforms.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate promotion of key services, projects, and events.
- Conduct a detailed audit of the social media channels, assessing effectiveness, reach, and engagement.
- Analyse current digital assets and communications platforms, including the corporate website and employee communication channels.
- Benchmark against best practices and industry standards to identify strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities.
- Prepare a comprehensive report with findings and evidence-based recommendations for improvement.
- Collaborate with appropriate services, users, and stakeholders to design a plan for a cohesive, innovative digital communications strategy that:
- Maximises social media impact and fosters community engagement.
- Enhances the usability, accessibility, and performance of the corporate website.
- Integrates employee communication tools to improve internal collaboration.
- Encourages public consultation and participation.
- Establishes KPIs and measurable goals to monitor success.
- Work closely with internal teams and external partners to gather insights and ensure alignment with organisational objectives.
- Facilitate workshops or meetings to present findings and gather feedback on proposed strategies.
- Proven experience in conducting digital audits and developing digital strategies.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret data and generate insights.
- Expertise in social media management and content strategy.
- Knowledge of website usability, accessibility standards, and UX principles.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks within limited time frames.
- Experience working within a local government or public sector context.
- Familiarity with employee engagement tools and methodologies.
