Communications Officer needed in Preston Paying £15.58 per hr Ref OR6347

Full time hrs on a temporary basis

Press and Media Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute a scheduled plan of news stories and activities to promote the City of Preston and its services.
  • Provide a proactive press service, including writing press releases, blogs, case studies, feature articles, and facilitating media interviews and associated briefing notes for use by local, regional, and national press.
  • Manage and respond to media enquiries in a professional and effective manner to uphold the City of Preston’s reputation.
  • Engage and respond to public enquiries in a professional and effective manner to uphold the city’s reputation.
  • Monitor and evaluate media coverage and the performance of the press office service, recording all proactive and reactive media spokesperson comments.
Social Media and Digital Responsibilities:
  • Plan, create, and maintain content for all websites, social media platforms, and accounts including Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), LinkedIn, and Instagram.
  • Support various departments and officers in the effective use of social media channels.
  • Promote events and activities through websites and social media channels using written articles, photographs, and videos.
  • Prepare and edit video and audio content for publication on digital channels to promote initiatives, events, and services.
  • Drive engagement, increase follower numbers, and raise awareness through social media platforms, directing traffic to websites.
  • Monitor and evaluate all social media activity and the success rate of digital campaigns.
  • Contribute to the content, management, and distribution of the monthly “Prestonian” and “Visit” e-newsletters.
