King's College London is seeking a communications specialist to support the Faculty of Natural, Mathematical & Engineering Sciences. The role focuses on copywriting and editing news and features, and creating content for social media, including graphics and videos, as well as contributing to the events programme.

This maternity-cover post is a full-time role (35 hours per week) with opportunities to collaborate across channels and work with researchers and stakeholders to raise the faculty's

Qualifications

  • Experience of working in higher education.
  • Experience of content creation for the web and social media channels in a professional capacity.
  • Experience of copy-editing and/or proofreading to a high standard.
  • Knowledge and experience of using Content Management Systems to manage webpages.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Experience of managing multiple workstreams independently.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with evidence of building good working relationships with stakeholders at all levels.

Responsibilities

  • Write and edit news and feature content for faculty communications.
  • Create and curate content for social media, including graphics and videos.
  • Contribute to the running of the faculty's events series.
  • Collaborate with researchers and other stakeholders to raise the faculty profile.

Job description

This is an exciting opportunity to raise the profile and increase the impact of the faculty's internationally renowned scientists who are working across traditional subject boundaries, leading cutting-edge research, tackling global challenges and answering fundamental questions about our universe.

This role supports all aspects of faculty communications. It's a fantastic opportunity to play a leading role in copywriting and editing news and features, creating and curating content for social media, including graphics and videos, as well as contributing to the running of our vibrant events series.

This is a maternity cover post. This post will be offered on a fixed-term contract from 01/01/2027 until 31/12/2027 or on the return of the substantive postholder. For internal staff, this may be offered on a secondment.

This is a full-time (35 hours per week) post. To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

  • Knowledge and experience of using design software, including the Adobe Creative Suite and Canva.
  • Knowledge and experience of using Contensis Classic to manage webpages.
  • Experience of supporting and running events and workshops.
