If you’re looking for a communications role with variety, purpose, and the chance to work in a truly unique environment, this could be the one.

This six-month contract offers the opportunity to step into a busy, creative, and people-focused comms team. Whether you’re looking for full-time or part-time (minimum three days per week), this role gives you space to make a meaningful impact across digital channels, internal content, and external messaging.

There is potential for this fixed-term role to become permanent, giving you a real chance to grow with the team.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll be the go-to person for incoming communications, keeping things moving and making sure enquiries land in the right place. You’ll take ownership of social media scheduling, help shape newsletters and website updates, support internal stories, and assist with external suppliers like photographers and videographers.

You’ll also be working with teams across the organisation, helping them communicate clearly and consistently , whether that’s for students, alumni, staff, or visitors.

What you’ll bring

  • Experience in communications or a related admin role, or a strong academic background with a communications edge
  • Confident writing skills and the ability to tailor content for different audiences and platforms
  • A proactive approach you’ll be happy juggling different tasks and jumping in where needed
  • Experience with social media, website updates, and digital tools
  • Comfortable in a team environment, ready to build relationships and collaborate with a variety of people

If you’ve worked in an education setting before, great. If not, and you love the idea of being part of something historic, community-led, and people-first, that’s great too!

What’s in it for you

  • £32,000 full-time salary (pro-rata for part-time)
  • Beautiful office-based setting in central Cambridge
  • Free lunch on site when you’re working over six hour day
  • Excellent pension where your contributions are doubled
  • 25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays
  • Access to on-site gym, subsidised punts, and social events
  • Employee wellbeing support through an assistance programme
