Job Description:

We’re looking for a seasoned communications professional to join our Privacy and Security Communications team, part of TikTok’s broader Trust and Safety organization. You’ll work cross-functionally to shape messaging, manage media engagement, and develop strategies that elevate TikTok’s privacy and security story. You should be a strong writer, quick decision-maker, and comfortable working independently and collaboratively in high-stakes moments.

TikTok’s Privacy and Security Communications team is a group of subject matter experts responsible for shaping and strengthening the company’s global privacy and security narrative. You'll join a team that leads proactive campaigns, develop compelling educational resources, and partner with cross-functional teams to help users understand their privacy and security choices on TikTok.

  • Lead the development of global campaigns and initiatives that showcase TikTok’s privacy and security practices and innovations, with a focus on the UK and EU.
  • Shape and evolve TikTok’s global privacy and security narrative by creating and updating messaging documents, newsroom posts, speaking materials, pitches, statements, and other key assets.
  • Serve as a strategic comms partner to internal teams in product, legal, and public policy and incident response—especially during high-risk or crisis moments.
  • Support spokespeople in advance of media interviews, presentations, and speaking opportunities.
  • Equip regional PR teams with the resources and messaging needed to respond confidently and consistently to privacy and security-related inquiries.
  • Identify and amplify emerging privacy and security stories in a way that resonates with our audiences.
  • Support product risk reviews with strategic counsel and communications expertise.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 5+ years of communications experience, ideally in technology, privacy, security, or public policy.
  • Proven ability to work with product teams, legal partners, and other internal partners to translate complex or technical topics into clear, accessible messages.
  • Strong media relations experience with privacy, security, and technology reporters.
  • Solid understanding of EU privacy regulations (such as the GDPR) and other global data protection frameworks.
  • Strong technical fluency. Excellent writing, editing, and presentation skills across a variety of formats and audiences.
  • Strong strategic and analytical skills with the ability to assess risks and provide thoughtful counsel.
  • Sharp strategic thinking and risk assessment abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience leading or supporting communications responses to crises, incidents, or sensitive regulatory matters is strongly preferred.
  • Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
