Job Title: Communications Manager

The Communications Manager will be part of a busy team helping to demonstrate the value and impact of the NIHR's major investments in health research, medical technologies, and research infrastructure for the benefit of patients now and in the future. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, proactive, and thrive in a fast-paced environment at the heart of NIHR and the UK's health research system.

Key responsibilities include supporting the promotion of NIHR's research portfolio, working with research funding teams, planning and delivering announcements of funding schemes and research outputs, and producing engaging content for various channels. The role involves close collaboration with NIHR's communications teams and providing guidance on accessible web content and branding.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Degree-level education or relevant equivalent experience
  • Significant press office experience in a health, medical, or scientific context
  • Experience translating complex topics for web, social media, and news stories
  • Proven copywriting skills with strong grammatical accuracy
  • Knowledge of the media landscape for health, medical, and science stories
  • Experience using social media platforms and content management systems
  • Creative flair for visual social media and infographic content
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and prioritization skills
